Haddonstone’s cast stone columns, half columns, pillars and pilasters are designed to be non structural elements and so are provided with hollow cores. The columns and pillars, if filled with reinforced concrete or used to sleeve a structural steel member, can then be used in structural situations. Haddonstone’s cast stone columns and pillars are supplied in component form and must be erected on suitable foundations designed to suit loadings and ground conditions.
The sections of a Haddonstone column or pillar shaft together with the column capital should be lined with polystyrene or similar to act as an isolating medium when column cores are infilled with concrete.
